WARNING-This review will contain spoilers.
I really really liked this movie. And I'm not even much of a Renee Zellweger fan. I could find myself in the place of the characters. Renee's character cared for children and wanted to do the right thing for them, wanted to help them, to save them. That's something I have tried to do in the past. She took one in, also something I want to do in the future. The shock of two parents trying to stuff a 10 year old girl in a stove and cook her was morbid and mortifying. But I knew from the get go that they had a reason....just by reading the preview. We find out that she is straight evil. The actress that plays the little demon girl is really good. She becomes annoying, as some little children do. I almost felt sorry for her though, even as a demon in a way, because it seemed as though she just wanted love. But that was not necessarily the case because she was killing people for no apparent reasoning other than she wanted to. And this was found out by her new caretaker. One thing that was satisfying in this movie is witnessing a completely calm, cool, and collected lady completely lose it over the phone and cuss out one of the parents who had called to cuss HER out. Something I am sure a huge majority of us have wanted to do, but never have in fear of losing our jobs. ANYWAY, This movie also completely played with my OWN fears, as I too fear a lot of the things this girl was doing to people. I have a fear of Bees/wasps/hornets and sure enough, there's a horrendous hornet scene. Which really kinda got under my skin(in a good way for it being a movie that is). Another part was the elevator scene...That is also another fear of mine! My heart was probably beating as fast as the numbers as the elevator dropped, only to breathe again once it stopped. See, when I can relate to whats going on onscreen, its much easier to get wrapped up and caught up in whats going on. And then there was the fish. HAHAH. As Renee's character tries to burn up her house with the little girl in it, she looks at the fish and walks out with it under her arm. That is something I would TOTALLY do....I have TONS of fish and I adore them xD I know that in the end the fish probably survived because they landed in water anyway, so that made me smile. LOL. The whole thought of killing something that looked and somewhat acted so much like a little girl would probably disturb me a bit more than what Renee's character seemed to feel...she didnt go through much emotion of hesitation, which was probably better for her in the long run. If I was in her place, I would have had to witness the girls 'true face' as we see a couple times before I even THOUGHT about killing her. Otherwise I would have thought she was another little girl who was so disturbed by what her parents did to her that she was acting out in extremely strange ways. I would have done a LOT of observing and acting as if nothing was wrong, because when I act, I often think, at least in that moment. When I was not near her THATS when I'd try to find out what the heck is going on with her .Not that this would have necessarily worked, because, she probably would have known anyway! Which is creepy. Creepy movie, plenty of action, and relation to audience (meh hahaha) which is why I give this movie a 5 out of 5 stars.

Over all, it wasn't as good as I remembered one to be. The best parts of the whole movie was towards the end. It had a nice tie up but left a little to be desired, meaning I do believe there could successfully be another butterfly effect that could proceed this one. The first one seemed full of twists and turns and moral obligations which this one really seemed to lack. I have not seen the 2nd butterfly effect however, so perhaps some things would make more sense, but from seeing the first one I was still able to catch most of what was going on. I got lost a bit on some of the story-line, which didn't hold its own, but I was able to figure it out mostly. I wasn't that impressed on the direction the movie was heading until the last 15 minutes or so. I feel the next one could be better done. Overall, I gave this one a 3 stars out of 5 because of its predecessor potential and the ending.
